Lors de son assemblée statutaire, qui s’est tenue à Copenhague le vendredi 23 mars, le PSE Femmes s’est engagé à appuyer pleinement la candidature de Mona Sahlin, (ancienne dirigeante du parti suédois SAP, au poste de Directrice générale de l’Organisation internationale du travail (OIT). Cet engagement intervient alors que Mme Sahlin vient d’être désignée comme candidate à ce poste par le Gouvernement suédois.

La réunion statutaire annuelle du PSE Femmes s’est tenue le 23 mars à Copenhague.
En présence du Ministre danois de l’égalité des chances, Manu Sareen, et du Porte-parole sur l’égalité des chances, le député Rasmus Langhoff, le PSE Femmes s’est félicité que la Présidence danoise ait inscrit au rang de ses priorités la lutte contre l’inégalité des sexes.

The Party of European Socialists (PES) today joined with Belgian member parties PS Belge and Sp.A to highlight the huge unemployment crisis faced by millions of young women in Europe. The action, which took place in Brussels, on international women’s day, was part of “Women on the Bridge”, a wider event organised by European and Belgian Women’s organisations. The event took place at Brussels canal.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Zita Gurmai MEP, President of PES Women, has emphasized the need for a European Youth Guarantee. The rapidly growing number of unemployed young women is set to have a deep and sustained impact on society. Ms. Gurmai delivered her message at the European Young Socialists Winter University.

Le 5 mars, la présidente de PSE Femmes, Zita Gurmai, a prononcé un discours à l’université d’hiver d’ECOSY, face à une assemblée de jeunes, pour présenter le thème de sa campagne « Ton avenir, mon avenir: les femmes comptent aussi ! » La campagne plaide pour la mise en place d’une Garantie européenne pour la jeunesse, dont l’objectif serait de fournir des solutions aux jeunes sans emploi ; Mme Gurmai a insisté sur les inégalités dont sont victimes les jeunes femmes à la recherche d’un emploi et sur leurs effets à long terme.

The Party of European Socialists (PES) has expressed its support for the Hunger March and the utmost need to draw attention to the alarming economic situation and democratic deficit of the country. The Hunger March started in Borsod County, one of Hungary’s poorest, and headed towards Budapest. The journey was approximately 190 km long, traveling across nearly half of the country in temperatures below -10°C. The slogan of the protest became “Work, Bread”.

The Socialist International held its Council meeting on 23-24 January 2012 in San Jose, Costa Rica. The two day international gathering, hosted by the Partido Liberación Nacional and bringing together socialist leaders, was opened by President Laura Chinchilla.

Socialist International Women (SIW) held its council meeting in capital city of Costa Rica, San José this weekend. The debates at the annual session focussed on the state of play in the international fight for sexual and reproductive freedom. The Party of the European Socialists (PES) and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament was represented by MEP and PES Women President Zita Gurmai.

Zij Kant, l’organisation des femmes du parti socialiste flamand Sp.A et le PSE Femmes ont célébré aujourd’hui la Journée internationale de l’éradication de la violence envers les femmes. L’événement, baptisé «La laideur de la violence», s’est déroulé dans le cadre de la Convention du PSE.
