Stanishev says today’s summit must signify a ‘turn towards a progressive growth agenda’
The Party of European Socialists (PES) has expressed its support for making Eurobonds a priority at the next EU summit (28 June). Ahead of today’s informal EU summit, the PES Prime Ministers and leaders met in Brussels to discuss how to promote their growth agenda.
The Party of European Socialists welcomes the 18 May Parliamentary resolution tabled by the Portuguese Socialist Party to tackle the eurozone crisis.

For the past years the Serbian people and government have been working tirelessly towards EU Accession. Under the leadership of the Democratic Party (DS) Serbia has met all the criteria set down by the EU in order to achieve Candidate Status.
The Party of European Socialists (PES) today (12h00) launched its flagship campaign “Your future is my future - A European Youth Guarantee now!”, which aims to tackle the crisis of youth unemployment in Europe. Currently, 5.6 million young Europeans are jobless, more than the entire population of Denmark. This inactivity costs Europe 100 billion euro every year. A European Youth guarantee, as being proposed by the PES could be supported by 10 billion euros from EU structural funds. This funding could help bring 2 million young people out of unemployment by 2014.
On 9 May PES activists organized a flashmob under the theme “people first”, demonstrating with posters and flags in Barcelona, Berlin, Bruxelles, London, Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Milan, Rome, Sofia and Stockholm.

The Party of European Socialists (PES) has welcomed the decision to make Victor Ponta the Prime Minister designate of Romania. Mr. Ponta (speaking in the video hereunder at a PES event on the need to reject Austerity Only policies in Romania) has announced his cabinet, made up of representatives from the coalition the Social Liberal Union (USL). He and his new administration are expected to be endorsed by the Romanian Parliament on Monday. Mr. Ponta will lead the caretaker government until the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 2012.
