Call for rapporteurs on A just world
The PES is looking for 2 activists (one rapporteur and one substitute) willing to be in charge of the activists’ contribution to the Fundamental Programme/Policy Forum on A just world.
Read the call here and reply to this forum entry to apply.
Dear Sara,
I would like to apply for the position of substitute to the rapporteur, for contributions to the Policy Forum on "A Just World".
My name is Alexis, I'm 36 and live in London. I am a French national and have lived abroad most of my life, including a part of my childhood in Britain, and several years in Germany, Russia and China.
I am currently studying International Relations at the London School of Economics, a subject I have always been passionate about. I am a French Socialist Party member, currently very active on the campaign trail (hence my preferred application as a substitute rather than rapporteur).
I am also a Terra Nova contributor within the Think-tank's London branch, due to launch next month. In charge of editorial management, I am deeply involved in policy analysis, and committed to fairness, impartiality and constructive synthesis. I have several years experience in report writing and analysis.
I strongly believe in the future of European Democracy, and the importance of pan-european party politics to this effect. Democracy cannot be active unless it reaches out to the people, and achieves their involvement in the Union's democratic process. I took part in the PES' November convention with a view to contribute to this effort in the future.
I think I have a lot to bring to the Policy Forum: a Franco/British culture, as well as a fair understanding of German public issues and narratives; an experience in reporting and research, as well as current involvement in policy analysis; and a strong commitment to the european project. Most importantly perhaps, I have empathy and interest for the diversity of Europe's peoples and their often diverging values, a key issue in designing a common policy platform (cf. work on NEXT LEFT, by FEPS, in vol. IV).
I chose "A Just World" because I am particularly interested in the global view of politics, and committed to developing international cooperation. This is the purpose of my studies at the LSE, for which I have chosen a specialisation in International Development.
Thank you for coming to us activists with this request, it is an exciting prospect, and a great opportunity to make democracy work for the benefit of the community.
With best regards
Alexis

Dear All
The expression for a more interdependent world brings together several major major themes:
The management of energy sources, protection of the environment, the fight against poverty and discrimination, the unequal distribution of wealth, preservation of cultural diversity, all areas that challenge our individual and collective responsibility and call us to invent other ways of living and acting.
We need to ask several questions concerning a new development, a new approach in consuming resources, acting for the planet by identifying areas of action where young adults can be agents of change, seek to achieve fair governance, for a social economy and the preservation of our environment.
This invites young people to meet the challenges of their times in responding to their present needs without compromising those of future generations. Changes in the outlook of the world is required.

Bonjour,
Dear Sara, dear all,
I hereby submit my application to become one of the four rapporteurs, to get actively involved in RE:new and bring the Activists' opinions into the Policy Forum. I would, concretely, like to apply for the repporteur on the "A just world" debate.
In October 2006 I joined the PES becoming a trainee for the Global Progressive Forum, and since then my professional and personal relation with the PES has been very deep. After 2 years I left the PES Secretariat, and I have very happy to have again an opportunity to contribute actively in a project I really believe in. This will be a stimulating task and I believe I can do it in a fair and impartial way, using my experience as PES staff but also my as PES activist.
The economic and financial problems we are currently suffering can not undermine our wish to extend our achievement to the rest of the planet. This is the reason why I have chosen the "A just world" debate.
More than ever, it has been made obvious that the new challenges the world is facing require of international and European answers. The Socialists and Socialdemocrats should be making proposals to the global solutions, being clear and concrete and not allowing others to mislead the debate. The challenges are many: war and armed conflicts, hunger, inequalities, abusive labour conditions, migration etc and should be center in our agenda.
I believe we can contribute to put this topic on the top of the PES priorities, and I hope I can help to do it by being the repporteur for the Policy Forum on this.
Thanks for taking into consideration my application and especially for offering us the possibility to apply.
Best regards,
Saray Espejo

Dear all,
Having spent over 15 years in the "developping world" (and conflict areas), I am now working in the private sector. I do tremendously miss more implication at european level, though I am an active member of a Terra Nova's working group on Foreign Policy Development. I am therefore applying for the Rapporteur Position on the Forum ofr aJust World
My motivation: contributing further to unravelling a european wide position on "fairness" - be it in development issues, the policies that drive it, the way European institution may (or may not) contribute to it. Moreover, I have a long experience "observing" in participative processes and prompting and nurturing debates (France, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, the US, Morocco).
I also intend to "use" (with PSE authorization) the "material" generated buy these debates to attempt to unravel paths towards a more holistics, less fragmented EU development and PESC. This will be materialized by a series of articles (non academic but rather actionable).
I am also lucky enough to have an occupation that gives me enough flexibility to actually "moderate" the forum on a "Just World".
Feel free to contact me for any further information
Sincerely,
Pascal CLEROTTE
