Research and economy

Research creates sustainable growth and Jobs. More attention and awareness should be given to investments in research. How about setting the next goal to reach 4 GPD of European national budgets. More attention to research should be given to politcal analyses and to politcal documents of All kinds suitably for the situation.

The current crisis can magnify
the competitive advantage of research-intense firms who seize the opportunity to reinforce market leadership
through increased spending on innovation and R&D. Many of today’s leading
firms such as Microsoft were born or transformed in the so called creative destruction
of economic downturns. Also many of today's leading technology firms such as Google
increased their R&D expenditures during and after the economy bust of 2001.
Economic crises are times of industrial renewal where less efficient firms fail
while dynamic ones emerge and expand. On the other hand, economic downturns may
have a detrimental effect on the creation of new, innovative businesses. Thus,
one of the key role is the development of small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs).
