rapporteur

I would like to register my interest in being the rapporteur for this particular forum.  I am an equality and diversity manager within the National Health Service and so on a day to day basis deal with issues about equality for the staff as well as giving advice on equality legislation.  I am also a Labour party councillor in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and vice chair of the health scrutiny committee, where I am currently leading a review into the maternity provision and looking at death in childbirth.  I am a regular blogger and blog on European issues quite frequently.  I also develop policy within my role as an equality manager and these polices include, flexible working, equality and diversity and industrial relations.  I have developed a gender equality and race equality scheme. I also know about campaigning against hate and fascism as I stood against the British National Party in the May 2010 local elections and successfully took back the seat for the Labour party.

Into Democracy, Toward Socialism

In last two Centuries, many generations of socialists fighted to reach Social justice for our european societies, and now we have the duty to hold, and improve, our welfare states.

This effort is at the base of my social, politic and public practical terms since when 20 years ago i joined in Italian Socialist Party and after its collapse now in Democratic Party.

I am a city councilman, as groupleader in my little town, and i'm the provincial spokesman of my Party.

I believe in a united, supportive, inclusive and fair Europe, and i think that PES must build a better model for our Countries, working for stronger public social services, in this heavy time, helping senior citizens, young students and unemployed workers that are paying for this dramatic social-economic crisis.

There are no other choices to go out to this situation that to defend and reinforce public health, public education, pensions and social cares.

Our values and our projects can across our citizens problems much better then right parties values and projects and we must work and fight, with democratic, politic and cultural weapons, to return to be the guide of Europe, as we were at Mitterand, Soares, Gonzales, Papandreu, Palme times and later again with Blair, Prodi, Schroeder, Zapatero...

With a modern vision of a new and changed society but stronger anchored to our historical morals, we have the credibility to make it!

I'd like to give my time, my experience and my passion to help PES to grow, also in this web space, so i give my availability to become a rapporteur in this equal societes forum.

Good luck and great job to everybody,

Manuel.

The Italian Socialist Party is not collapsed but existing

The Italian Socialist Party is not collapsed but existing and member of PSE even if

the Italian Democratic Party (PD) try to delete it, in italian 2008 elections.

The PD has refused the PSE joining by the authoritative position of his president

Mrs Rosy Bindi and the presence of PD members in PES activists should not possible

without the "escamotage" to consider a former membership in DS Party; this DS Party effectively collapsed, and melted in PD not joining PSE differently from DS.

Rapporteur Application

As a 16-year old, I believe that the youth could benefit from Socialism which, as proven many times in the past, has been the ideology that benefits the majority; the political ideal that puts people before profits, and indeed, enforces the ‘equal society’ status that seems to be overlooked in many other countries. From Socialism, Britain has achieved its National Health Service, perhaps the left-wing movement’s crowning glory in the United Kingdom and something that is quite possibly the pride of the United Kingdom in contemporary History.

As the Youth Officer for the Labour Party in my constituency in Manchester and the Senior Deputy Head Boy in my Sixth Form, I take equality very seriously, whether that be in ensuring that the youth in my area can get a say in the running of the local Labour party or attending ACTA demonstrations, something which I passionately believe is a damage to both human rights, privacy, dignity and above all, equality. I genuinely believe in equality and fairness for all, and my ethos as Labour Youth Officer puts inclusivity at the forefront of my agendas, ensuring that age is not a barrier.

I believe equality is something that can be spread throughout Europe and indeed, the world as a whole and equality is perhaps best founded in the ideologies of the Party of European Socialists, as Socialism is inherently about everyone. Rather then basing itself around individual gain, Socialism bases itself on society as a whole. I am particularly attracted to the role of Equal Societies Rapporteur because it is my belief that poltics should focus on the all, and not the few, as symbolised in the Occupy Movement's enduring slogan: "we are the 99%". I believe Equality should be given to that 99%.

Equality is something that can be gained through a variety of means such as promoting tolerance, mutual respect, but also improving public services such as health and education so that people can be put before profits, thus resulting in a ‘team-work’ style quality, an espirit de corps if you will.

Using a thoroughly modern perspective of today’s Democratic Socialist movements such as the likes seen in Britain and Norway, and perhaps using the same spirit, morality and driving force seen with the leadership of Clement Attlee’s government of 1945, who was perhaps the “father” of the NHS, PES could provide an effective model to encourage tolerance, respect and equality in societies.

Should I be lucky enough to be successful in my application, I will strive to provide a youthful perspective on these issues, and would be keen to use my position as Youth Officer on a more international scale; that covers more than just the youth. I feel my passion in Government and Politics, which I am currently studying at A Level, would flourish if given the opporunity to become involved in the ‘foray’ of European politics.

Thank you for reading my perspective on this and I hope you take my application into consideration,

Yours Faithfully

Rory Claydon

Youth Officer for the Stretford and Urmston Labour Party

Tomas Spragg - Equal Societies Rapporteur?
Dear all,
I would like to take just a few short moments to introduce myself, outline my motivations for expressing an interest in becoming a PES rapporteur, as well as stating why I believe this policy area is most relevant to my skills and experience.
I am a 25 year old active Socialist and European Federalist from the UK's West Midlands, who is now living in the heart of Brussels. I currently work for the European Youth Forum as a Communications Officer responsible for, among other areas, social media, internal communications and campaigns. I am thrilled that PES has decided to take on this second level of a participatory approach to the Fundamental Programme and I am enthused to be as active as possible in the process.
Naturally my role in the European Youth Forum has enabled me hone skills that allow me break down complex policy areas into more widely digestible discussion points for different online platforms. For me, creating information in as accessible language as possible is the first step to enabling many to contribute to such important processes. Once you have this information, it is then of upmost importance to bring more activists to the Re:new platform to engage in the debate. This is why I believe that it is important that the PES rapporteurs interact with PES communications staff in addition to the contact with policy staff, to ensure the contributions are as far and reaching as possible. I believe that bringing all the aforementioned approaches together will ensure that the process strives to be as inclusive and diverse as it possibly can be.
As an avid communicator, it goes without saying that I am personally quite active on many social media platforms, most of which I indeed use to draw readers to my personal blog. I also enjoy teaming up with other fellow European bloggers from time to time in order to live blog or comment on particular events. This led to me recently participating in the PES Convention in Brussels as part of PES' blogging team. I believe my level of comfort with sparking online debates will be a real asset as a PES rapporteur.
As a rapporteur I believe it would be my role to present information to activists in an unbiased as possible way, allowing for full and true debate on the Equal Society policy areas without hindrance. This is not to say that information needs to be plainly presented - I believe a provocative approach will always be useful to break silences and start debates. Likewise, I firmly hold that it is of upmost importance that the contributions of the activists are collated in as widely and inclusive way as possible, and adequately and accurately summed up to be presented to the Policy Forum in June.
My desire for impartiality in the outlined approach is not to say however, that I am without my opinions or intend not to contribute to the Equal Societies Fundamental programme / Policy Forum. Quite the opposite in fact. Although I do not speak on behalf of the European Youth Forum within PES, my daily work meets core areas that very often aline with the Party's Equal Societies policy area discussions. This is particularly the case when we start to discuss ideals of intergenerational solidarity, tackling poverty and social exclusion or methods to tackle vastly rising youth employment. I believe that I have a lot of knowledge and many opinions to bring to the debate - and I look forward to contributing via Re:new with all fellow activists.
In solidarity,
Tomas

rapporteur or substitute of rapporteur

Dear Sara and dear friend

I would like to apply for the
position of rapporteur or of substitute to the rapporteur, for
contributions to the Policy Forum on "Equal societies".

  My name
is Stroe Stefan.I am from Romania,est Europe.I am 41 years old.I am
president of pes activists Prahova,a county in Romania.

  I am
members of the Romanian Social Democratic Party of 12 years.I graduated
in mathematics also computer science master and also  master in
educational management.I taught my students math and computer.I was
director of a foreign trade company exports to countries in  Asia made
industrial products and have worked with people from Asian
countries.Last year i was in Brussels on Pes convention. The other
opponent we have seen and i feel very prepared for this post but i saw
that Eastern Europe was not a candidate so i dared myself .

   I'm
out of a country where democracy is in danger due to power right after
the new law violates the law as well as in Hungary. So,i know what
democracy means and especially what a lack of democracy.Recently have
been protests against abuses of power in our country right and i was
among the protesters and i.Romanian Social Democratic Party
parliamentary strike is even. So,i know what danger dictatorship and lack
of democracy and i know has moderated forum that will discuss topics
related to democracy or equal societies.I believe in just a world. Also
meet people from Asia and their peoples efforts and progress towards
democracy and believe that all people have equal rights and
globalization will not do anything but create a single market and single
world. Also,i know how work a western democratic society and know how a
democratic society in eastern europe .I also known communist society and
know how and how a society in asia.I saw as a communist society could
move to democracy and to approach companies in a few years in western
Europe as living standards. So i think any society can be transformed in
a few years western-style democratic society where there will people in
that society. The Socialists and Socialdemocrats should be making
proposals to the
global solutions. The challenges are many: war and armed conflicts,
hunger, inequalities, abusive labour conditions, migration etc .I
believe that all people have equal rights and  i am convinced that the
future will equal societies around the world.
