The Committee of the Regions associates local and regional authorities to the decision-making of the European Union as a consultative body. Currently the President of the Committee of the Regions is Mercedes Bresso, former President of the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions.
The PES Group in the Committee of the Regions ensures strong representation for the concerns of local and regional authorities led by PES members. The current President of the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions is Karl-Heinz Klär. He is also member of PES Presidency on behalf of PES Group in the CoR.
