Swedish Social Democrats elect new woman leader

Commenting on the election of Mona Sahlin as SAP Party Leader, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, President of the Party of European Socialists, said 

"Congratulations to Mona Sahlin and Swedish Social Democrats.  I have known Mona for many years and have the highest respect for her competence, her drive and her vision.  The Swedish Social Democrats have elected an excellent Leader. The present Government is not what Sweden or Europe needs. There is a need for change in Sweden today and Mona Sahlin is the person who will lead that change."

He added "I look forward to seeing her at the PES Leaders meeting in Berlin next week."

The PES has a Leaders meeting on March 24 in Berlin just before the EU Summit.
