Public services

The PES believes that public services are a positive and fundamental element of the New Social Europe. We are committed to ensuring high quality, universally-accessible public services throughout the European Union. For this reason, the PES is working with its members and partners to guarantee that all European countries can freely provide public services of their choice throughout the European Union.

The PES Group in the European Parliament has presented a proposal for a framework directive on services of general economic interest.

The European Trade Union Confederation is currently running a petition on public services.
