Global Progressive Forum in action

After five very exciting days of activities in Nairobi, Kenya, the 7th edition of the World Social Forum (WSF), held for the first time in Africa, closed on January 25th

The WSF was born in Porto Alegre (Brazil) in 2001 as a contra-event to the World Economic Forum that meets yearly in Davos (Switzerland). At the WSF, alter-globalization organizations can network and develop their campaigns to make the motto of the Forum: “another world is possible” a reality.

The participation in the WSF is a great opportunity for socialists and social democrats to engage in debates on how to reform the current globalization process, which is why the Global Progressive Forum (GPF) has participated in all the different editions of the WSF very actively.

The GPF, together with different NGOs and Trade Unions launched two campaigns aimed at publicizing and promoting the Decent Work Agenda: A campaign on Decent Work, Decent Life and a Campaign for the World Cup 2010. It is now up to like minded citizens and organizations to join these campaigns and to engage as many people as possible!

Among all the moments in Nairobi, it is worth to mention the big demonstration around the WSF venue to defend “Decent Work and Decent Life for all”
