Rainbow Rose LGBT Network

Rainbow Rose was created in 2005-2006, after years of contacts between European LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) socialist groups. Its membership is open to all existing socialist and social-democrat LGBT groups existing within the PES full and affiliated member parties.

Rainbow Rose intends to work together with the PES, the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, ECOSY and the national executives of all member parties, to promote LGBT rights, equality and diversity throughout Europe. Natural partners of our activities are the PES Women Standing Committee and ILGA Europe.

Rainbow Rose aims at looking into the position and policies of PES member parties in implementing LGBT-friendly legislations, fighting homophobia and trans-phobia. It will monitor the implementing of EU directives.

Rainbow Rose uses joint communication activities to raise awareness of the actions and positions of the network, the PES, and  national member parties in the fight for the promotion of equality and diversity. It will help developing joint policies and trans-national campaigns.

Rainbow Rose regards the differences between national laws as an opportunity to move towards higher European standards, and thus to give its true dimension to the free movement of European citizens and their families, in order not to discriminate LGBT people and their children.
