PES activists and PES manifesto on French PS magazine “L'hebdo”
“L’hebdo des Socialiste”, the weekly magazine of the French Parti Socialiste, features a special piece on the PES Manifesto and PES activists. In an interview Poul Nyrup Rasmussen explains the unique consultation process behind the PES political programme and talks about its contents. The ‘history’ of PES activists is also presented and the role of PES activists in the consultation process is shown through some of the key meetings.
PES activists can now register to PES Council!
The PES is holding its Council on 1-2 December in Madrid and as on previous occasions PES activists are more than welcome to the Council. This year the Council will focus on adopting the PES manifesto; activists are invited to attend plenary sessions, fringe meetings and a Training Day - on the eve of the Council.

Barack jam for Obama
PES Activists from Hungary are producing and selling apricot jam to show their support for Barack Obama. As ‘Barack’ means apricot in Hungarian – spelt exactly like Obama’s first name - PES activists made apricot jam in the eastern Hungarian town of Tallya labelled ‘Barack for Obama’ to show their support for the Democratic Presidential candidate.



PES activists forum Vienna: A strong voice for European social democracy
Over 300 socialists and social democrats from all over Europe took part in the first ever Party of European Socialists ‘activists forum’ in Vienna from 4 to 6 July. It marked the end of the PES’ consultation on what should be in its manifesto for the 2009 European elections, and the start of preparations for the 2009 European election campaign. more


Madrid PES activists group starts working
The Group has already made its contributions to the 2008 PES Manifesto.
The past May 8, the Madrid PES activists Group was founded by around 20 activists. The Group has since then held several meetings in order to discuss the 2008 PES manifesto and to establish a permanent structure. Most of its members are sympathizers of the PSM (the Madrilenian section of the Spanish PSOE), being the European parliamentary Carlos Carnero one of its most prominent members. more
The manifesto consultation arrives in the Balearic Islands!
On May 12, MEP Teresa Riera and Xisco Dalmau, Secretary General of the Balears Islands Socialist Youth, co-chaired a conference in Palma de Mallorca in order to promote the PES manifesto consultation. During the meeting, the participants expressed their interest to set up a PES activists group in the Balearic Islands. MEP Teresa Rierra said that the conference will be followed by similar events in other cities from the islands.


News from PES activists Portugal
This month Portuguese activists are steping up the pace for the PES manifesto consultation! The four consultation themes are broadly discussed in Setubal, Faro, Coimbra and Porto. Check their website to see the points that were made!
