Re: international women’s day (Tuesday 8 March 2005)

Dear friends,

In my capacity as President of PES Women, I am writing to inform you of our activities for international women’s day.

You will find enclosed the new PES Women pledge card. We will launch this card officially on international women’s day to send a common message from women from our parties regarding our priorities for gender equality in Europe.

You will also find enclosed the PES Women resolution on Beijing+10, as well as a press release to be released on international women’s day.

I would also like to inform you and invite you to our first yearly conference - “More and better jobs for women: an EU priority?” - which will take place in Brussels on Friday 18 March 2005. We have sent you the programme by email. The conference will consider the gender perspective of the mid-term review of the Lisbon strategy.
