Re: resolution on Beijing+10 and invitation to annual conference

In my capacity as President of PES Women1, I am writing to inform you of our resolution on Beijing+10 (please find enclosed). As you can see from the text, our two priorities are the improvement of women’s reproductive rights and the application of quotas to ensure gender equality.

I hope that you can consider our resolution in advance of the 49th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York from 28 February to 11 March.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to our yearly conference - “Creating more and better jobs for women: an EU priority?” - which will take place in Brussels on Friday 18 March 2005. The conference will consider the gender perspective of the mid-term review of the Lisbon strategy. In particular, we will consider how best to create the conditions which enable women to work (notably better childcare and education and skills for women) as well as ensuring equality in the work place (eliminating gender discrimination and the gender pay gap).
