ECOSY


The ECOSY "Young European Socialists" gathers Socialist youth movements of the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe and of the Mediterranean countries. It was founded in November 1992 in The Hague with the following objectives:

ECOSY is the youth organisation of the Party of European Socialists (PES), works in close co-operation with the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) and is a member of the European Youth Forum.

Giacomo Filibeck

Giacomo Filibeck was born in Italy in 1978. He is studying political science in Rome. He is currently the President of ECOSY – Young European Socialists. Giacomo Filibeck is politically involved in youth NGOs since high school, holding leadership positions both at the national and international level. He has acquired a vast expertise on youth issues, as well as on the processes and actors in the youth field. He has provided political input on behalf of youth in many of the most relevant national, European and world processes related to youth policy. He has been President of the Youth convention on the future of Europe and a first line observer of this constitutional process. As a board member of Sinistra Giovanile, he was ECOSY vice president from 2001 till 2003. After his commitment in ECOSY, he became President of the European Youth Forum, the European Platform of National Youth Councils and International Youth NGOs, with 93 member organisations. Giacomo Filibeck has been active, especially in the field of Education and Human Rights and Equality. He contributed to many seminars, conferences and working groups at the EU level, the Council of Europe and the UN.

ECOSY Secretary General

Anna Skrzypek

Ania Skrzypek was born in 1979 in Warsaw, Poland. She studied political sciences at the University of Warsaw and within Erasmus Scholarship at the Free University of Berlin, which studies she finalized with a degree of the Master of Arts in 2003. The university experience has been enriched by numerous internships (among them in Friedrich Ebert Foundation and consecutive electoral campaigns) and through students’ projects (like the Cambridge University EU Society Model European Council). Having graduated with honors in 2003 at the Faculty of Journalism and Political Sciences of the University of Warsaw, she was accepted there as a Ph.D. researcher and holds a position of a scientific assistant and younger lecturer in the Institute of Political Sciences. Her doctor thesis concerns the cooperation of the socialist and social democratic parties in uniting Europe 1957-2007.

In terms of her political experience, Ania joined the socialist youth movement (SML) in Poland in year 1999, become the international secretary by year 2000. Since then, having been an advocate for the unification of the youth organizations, in 2003 she became one of the founding members of FMS (Young Social Democrats Federation) and was entrusted by its’ Congress in 2004 with a mandate of Vice-President of International Affairs. ECOSY – Young European Socialists Congress in 2005 elected Ania as its Secretary General, which position she hold nowadays –as she was reelected unanimously for the second term in 2007.

Ania has a broad experience in the field social activism, especially from: pupils’ charity organizations, the students unions, emancipation and pro-European movements (here especially before the referendum on the Poland’s’ accession to the EU). As far as additional skills are concerned, she also served as an instructor at several international seminars as a member of the International Team of Kurt Lowenstein Educational Centre in Werftpfuhl, Berlin. She remains also a political publicist, contributing currently to Polish social review monthly magazine “Dzis”.
