Barack Obama - Hope for Americans and Europeans alike

PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen expressed his total support for Barack Obama to win the next US Presidential elections.
“The US Democrats are making history by choosing Barack Obama as their candidate” said Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, “Obama is the choice for change and renewal. He gives hope to millions of Americans and Europeans for a fairer world.”
“Restoring the international reputation of the US Government, and healing the wounds within American society, after 8 years of George W. Bush, are among the tasks facing the new President. Progressive Europeans are united in hope that Barack Obama will be the new President following the US elections on 4 November.”
“The world needs a Democratic administration to work with Europe to meet our common challenges - climate change, food crisis, financial crisis, conflicts especially in the Middle East. The US and the EU, acting together, can make a new and positive international agenda.”
Poul Nyrup Rasmussen also had praise for Hillary Clinton. “She too has helped to rekindle hope among Americans and Europeans alike.”
The PES will send a delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August 2008.
