Spanish Government invests in education for the under 3s
26 September 2007
With €100 million from the Government, and additional funds from regional authorities, 80,000 new child care places will be created in 2008 for the under 3s.
The leader of the PSOE Group in the Spanish Parliament Diego Lopez Garrido described the agreement, which had to be made with other left parties in the Spanish Parliament, as a clear qualitative advance and a very clear choice to invest in education for the under 3s.
This follows a pledge of universal child care by Prime Minister José Luis Zapatero in July.
