Visit of Russian politicians to PES Headquarters
The Social Democratic Party of Russia, accompanied by the People’s Party, the Pensioners Party and the People’s will Party led a group of Russian politicians that visited the PES headquarter in Brussels, on 18 October 2006, and met PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, members of the European Parliament and representatives of PES member parties. The meeting aimed at deepening knowledge on the political situation in Russian and to strengthen relations with Russian parties. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen presented the New PES and its work, the preparation of the PES Congress in Porto and the work of the PES Eastern European Neighbours WG led by Peter Schieder (SPÖ, Austria) and Tadeusz Iwinski (SDL, Poland).
