The PES President calls on the French people to support Ségolène Royal
"Yesterday evening, I took part in the big campaign rally for Ségolène in Lille.
Next Sunday, the French people will be called upon to make an important choice for France. I am no longer interested in what the polls say. I believe we are in a very tight race, and that today the stakes are higher than ever before in other elections.
This is why I want to call on you, the workers, the employees, and the unemployed.
I call on those of you who want more social justice, who want better salaries, who really want a change in your country and in Europe.
I call on those of you who get up early in the morning and those who get up late.
And I tell you this: please, do not trust Nicolas Sarkozy.
I have never seen the right-wing in Europe create quality jobs with decent salaries and the Villepin/Sarkozy Governement has certainly not done that.
I have never seen the right-wing in Europe promote social progress nor create social rights and the Villepin/Sarkozy government has certainly not done that.
I have never seen the right-wing in Europe make the lives of disabled people easier and the Villepin/Sarkozy government has certainly not done that.
No, what I have always seen in Europe is that the right-wing favours the power of money and could not care less about the citizens... and this is certainly what the Villepin/Sarkozy government has done.
Ségolène, Europe needs you.
Now it is up to the French women and men to make their choice for the future of France and Europe when voting on Sunday.
I call on you to take part in chaging the French political landscape, to take a stand. Go and vote on Sunday for your votes will be decisive!"
