Margot right to be pleased about Ségolène

PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen warned the EPP to stop their campaign against Margot Wallström. 

Poul Nyrup Rasmussen dismissed EPP President Wilfried Martens’ claim that Margot Wallström acted improperly and endorsed Ségolène Royal. PES President said "Margot Wallström was right to express her pleasure at the success of a socialist woman candidate getting through to the second round of the French Presidential elections. Would Mr Martens have preferred Jean Marie Le Pen to get through? Expressing your opinion about a result is hardly the same as endorsing a candidate before an election."

He went on to add "Let’s not pretend that the current European Commissioners are neutral. Louis Michel is off campaigning in the Belgian elections. I don’t doubt European Commissioners attended the EPP rally for Berlusconi just before the Italian elections. So let’s stop this campaign against Margot Wallström."
