PES Secretary General celebrates EU 50th birthday with PES activists in Poznan, Poland



Philip Cordery, PES Secretary General, attended the celebrations of EU 50th birthday in Poznan, Poland, organized by Marek Siwiec, Vice-President of the European Parliament.
The event, set in the city center, gathered numerous guests and residents of Poznań. The main highlight of the event was an exhibition presenting the most important facts from the history of the European Union, starting from signing the Treaty of Rome in 1957 until 1st May 2004 when Poland became member of the EU. Philip Cordery along with MEP Marek Siwiec guided the visitors of the exhibition. To show the sweetness of the EU, an enormous cake in the shape of Europe was prepared for this occasion.
Later, during the press conference, PES Secretary General emphasized the importance of the enlargement of the European Union and necessity of implementation of the New Social Europe.
