Mircea Dan Geoana is the chairman of the Romanian Social-Democrat Party (PSD). As member of the Senate (since 2004), he is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, and member of the European Integration Committee.


Celebrating Women's Day
As each year, the Socialdemocratic Youth Federation and Marek Siwiec`s co-workers, went out to the streets on the 8th of March, the International Women`s Day. Now for the first time as PES activists they were giving not only flowers, but also PES Women leaflets about the 15% pay gap. Many passers-by – mostly men, were involved into discussion about the gender inequality. The action was held in 10 counties.


"SIM" - Campaigning for the Portuguese referendum on depenalising abortion
Sunday, the 11 February, the Portuguese electorate voted on a referendum for the decriminalization of abortion, when requested by the women, up until the ten weeks of gestation, to be made in a legally authorized health facility.

Third March for Equality in Poznan
Almost 500 participants took part in the third March for Equality, which was held on November 18th in Poznan. Because of its opponents, the march could not be completed in 2004 and in 2005. In these years, it was even called illegal by Polish authorities.
