PES activists interview Margot Wallström
Margot Wallström is Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Institutional Relations, December 2006. She has also served as Environment Commissioner in the Prodi Commission (1999-2004). In Sweden, she was Minister for Consumer Affairs, Women and Youth, Minister for Culture and Minister for Social Affairs.


Third March for Equality in Poznan
Almost 500 participants took part in the third March for Equality, which was held on November 18th in Poznan. Because of its opponents, the march could not be completed in 2004 and in 2005. In these years, it was even called illegal by Polish authorities.


Interview with Sergei Stanishev - prime minister of Bulgaria
Sergei Stanishev is prime minister of Bulgaria and Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). Since April 2004 he has also been a member of the presidency of the Party of European Socialists.


Rasmussen meets PES activists in Warsaw
On October 6 PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen met representatives of the three major Polish socialist parties in Warsaw. In the upcoming local elections the socialist parties will jointly form a coalition. In the framework of his trip, PN Rasmussen also met local PES activists.

The launch of the PES activists
On the 9th of May 1950 Robert Schuman gave his speech on a united Europe. The date has become “Europe Day”, a symbol the unified Europe. On this date, the PES launched its new network which brings together members of Europe's socialist and social democratic parties. Among the guests at the launch were Margot Wallström, Commissioner for Institutional Relations, and MEP Jo Leinen, chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs in the European Parliament.
