Elections in Spain, France and Malta
Spanish national elections will take place 9 March in a mourning context after the assassination of socialist ex-councillor Isaías Carrasco. The PES stands with PSOE and condemns all acts of terrorism.
In France, the Parti Socialiste hopes to make gains in the first round of local elections in cities and towns across France on Sunday with President Sarkozy’s popularity collapsing in the polls.
Alfred Sant hopes to lead the Malta Labour Party from opposition into government in Parliamentary elections on Saturday 8 March.

PES – Excessive use of force making Gaza life unbearable
More than 120 Palestinians, among them children and civilians, have been killed and around 300 injured in the Gaza strip in the last week. Life is becoming unbearable for the Gazawi people, with the latest round of violence and death adding to the misery and hardship caused by the blockade.

Up to Europe now to show Serbia EU future
