PES President criticizes EPP support to Fidesz party in Hungary
Commenting on the statement of EPP President Wilfried Martens in support of Fidesz, PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen said “Once again Fidesz are engaged in populist and provocative actions that are pushing the boundaries of democratic opposition." PES President adds that "the EPP should recognize a fundamental truth of democracy: that a democratic opposition should exercise its role in Parliament and not through street demonstrations.”
