PES expresses worries about potential coalition in Slovakia
Date2006/06/29 23:30 by: authorThis thread discusses the Content article: PES expresses worries about potential coalition in Slovakia
The resolution couldn't have been any softer...
This potential "worrying coalition" is a reality now and people have to live with it. Ethnic hungarians and roma in fear perhaps. If this is "social democracy" PES doesn't reject...well,that would be a big shame -
Re:PES expresses worries about potential coalition in Slovakia
Date2006/07/12 15:20 by: cliqueI am slovakian, I live in this country for my whole life, so i have really hard time understanding the attitude of PES towards Smer. In the previous SLOVAK government hugarian party(SMK) had a very strong voice. In Slovakia there less then 10% Hungarians. In past we were opressed by hungarian for about 1000 years and now they part of our government for another 8 years. In southern slovakia many people dont even need to know slovakian, but must speak hungarian, if they want to get a good job. Those are facts. I have nothing against Hungarians but i am asking: Why was it OK when in the government of slovakia was a hungarian party?( which maybe doesn't call itself nationalistic , but its main reason for existing is to support hungarian minority- that's why its called officially: the party of hungarian coalition -so i wouldn't be afraid to call it nationalistic too.) The good results of SNS in the elections are only the answerof the slovak nation : Slovaks dont want to see hungarian party on the top of the state again. That doesnt mean Slovaks support the rasistic theories and that doesnt mean they accept the vocabulary of its leader( jan slota- because he is actually the only one in SNS using that kind of " flowery" terminology), it means that slovaks want to take good care of the minorities in slovakia and we dont want to supress ANY of them , but minorities in slovakia should act like minorities in slovakia should have only the power of minority and not to control the majority in any way. That is why so many Slovaks voted for SNS. I didn't, but i can understand them. When forming a new government Smer was forced to make a coalition, SDKU as an extreme right wing party was first out of the negotiations. SMK and KDH claimed that they will enter the coalition only together- they are both right wing partiesand together would certainly make Smer lots of problems with enforcing its social orientation into the governing of Slovakia. Both ( KDH and SMK) had also stated that they willl never go into the coalition with HZDSif the leader is Meciar ( and Meciar is the leader) so that made it completely impossible for Smer to make any other kind of coalition( except coalition as is now- with HZDS and SNS) in which they would have the main voice and power to fulfill their promises to the people.I know this is not the perfect result of the negotiations but obviously the best that could be made in such a complicated after-election situation. I voted for Smer and i believe the social democratic way of ruling is the best for Slovaks now, so i voted for them. But i am very dissapointed with the attitude of PES that does never answered the question( maybe it never heard it before or it is too difficult to answer it..): Why was it OK when in the government of SLOVAKIA was a HUNGARIAN(secretlyquietly nationalistic)party and it is not OK when in SLOVAKIAN government is SLOVAK nationalistic party. Could anybody answer this for me please???? Whom does the PES care for? the people in Slovakia or the complaints of hungarian socialists that would( quite understandably) rather see in Slovak government a Hungarian party...Who will answer???

but to laco: i dont know but i havent found in your article any reasons why do you think this coalition is dso dangerous to hungarians or another ethnic groups in slovakia.. What reasons , on what facts do you base your opinion ..the things you said that you dont agree with me and that its rhetoric is gefahrlich and other things.. rhetorik.. what really is rhetorik.. that is what people say , but not what people do. rhetorik is not ieven what they say actually it is only the way in which they are speaking..And the way in which politicians speak should be very diplomatic, i agree, this is a problem in SNS, but the rhetoric of one not that strong party in the coalition is in real life not that important. Important is what the wole coalition will achieve for slovak state and its people( all) and in their document where they stated their main goals for these years is nothing against hungarians or other minorities, so once again.. What are those gefahrliche ziele you are talking about? But please dont just put out one of slotas as i said before `flowery` quotes, that are only his Rhetorikbut not the ziele of this government..In my opinion everything, I hope you will give me more chances to think it over.
