Constitution

referendums
Date2006/03/04 14:13 by: Marcel de Vriesit is quite incredible how the 'yes' brigade wants to change the rules of the game in the middle of the game. It was clearly stated beforehand that a single 'no' vote would end the constitution. Now we have two popular rejections of the constitution and they are only talking of reviving it.
The most disgraceful thing is that people think 14 countries ratified it, that is not true, only 2 countries popularly voted for it, the rest was too afraid to let their population have a vote. For example, Austrians would have voted no.
And it is also incredible that politicians in Denmark, Britain and Czech republic have postponed their referendums because they knew their people would vote 'no' as well. Does Blair really think the British people can ever be conned into voting for it?
The EU constitution is an utter disaster which would make the EU even worse than it already is. The EU politicians and bureaucrats are control freaks who wish to build a structure similar to the political system of the former Soviet Union, where the high and mighty can regulate the EU's economies to death. The EU is the #1 cause for western Europe's economic problems, and soon EU regulations will slow down growth in eastern Europe as well. And let's not forget the CAP, the plot by France to destroy African farmers.
Let's not fool ourselves, Europe is not the EU and the EU is not Europe. We can have Europe, we can have free trade agreements and voluntary agreements on other policy areas, we don't need an EU for that. -
Re:Constitution
