WTO, ILO, etc
Date2006/02/13 14:53 by: Siobhan O'brianThe WTO met in Hong Kong last December in order to discuss, among other subjects, decent work. Do you think it is possible to reach decent work when one millions of kids are treated as slaves?

many other problems ) is the globalisation.

We know that the model of globalisation currently taking place is benefiting only a few, while damaging or leaving most at the margins. A true globalisation process would not discriminate in this way. It would allow all sections of society to collaborate in building a framework that would be both just, fair and viable. Wallerstein's explanatory model seems valid, when talking about migration, outsourcing, subcontracting, export processing zones...can we build a practical structure that would account for all?
