PES Childcare campaign
Date2007/02/06 15:39 by: Nils WoernerPES has launched the ‘childcare for all’ campaign at the last Congress in Porto. The aim – which already has the support of Ségoléne Royal, José Socrates and many other leading Socialist politicians – is to make childcare available to all who want it.
Participate in the PES campaign and show the situation in your country to the others. Tell us about the situation of childcare in your area. What are your party’s local or regional policies, initiatives or achievements on childcare? -

Date2007/02/07 21:21 by: Ruy CamposI support the childcare campaing that's why I am asking all portuguese voters to vote NO in the abortion referendum next Sunday! Protect the unborn children's rights, Stop abortion promotion! Trully socialists don't offer to the poorest and weakest women abortion as the solution, their priority should be an inclusive approach to women and baby rights! Socialists MUST protect the weakest, no the abortion bussiness!

Date2007/02/08 07:02 by: Dylan FigueiredoAbortion is indeed a tragedy for all involved, especially for the woman who has to make such a heartbreaking decision. It is even more tragic when governments overstep the legitimate bounds of their authority by taking over every woman's uterus. Why should an impoverished young woman who has been raped or abandoned be forced to endure pregnancy and childbirth? We know the historical results of so-called "pro-life" policies: unjust incarcerations, unsanitary abortions and dead women in back alleys. We need to abandon the feudalistic, patriarchal mentality that condemns women as heretics and consigns dead fetuses to limbo. I hope that all Portuguese Socialists will search their hearts and support the right of women to choose. VOTO SIM!

Re:PES Childcare campaign
Date2007/02/08 15:19 by: Ruy CamposDear Mr. Figueiredo,
In Portugal, the current law already allows abortion in a lot of situations including rape, danger for the woman's health, and bad formation of the fetus. What portuguese voters are going to vote next Sunday is if they agree with the liberalization of abortion (abortion by request at public hospitals). This is unacceptable for all responsible people and that's why the NO won in the 1998 referendum with more than 51% and that's why the NO is expected to win this referendum again! If abortion is a evil, why do you want to offer it to the weakest women? If we can protect both (the woman and the unborn baby) and to kill one? VOTE NO!
