Balkan parties in the PES
Date2006/08/30 14:30 by: P.L.I think it's time to the PES to admit the social democratic parties of Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo and Turkey as full members. It gives the impression that the PES doesn't want to accept political parties from countries with a muslim majority of the population. I don't want to believe that the PES is a racist organization, but the true is that the PES only has christian/jewish member parties in its ranks.

Date2006/09/19 14:12 by: Nils WörnerThe PES accepts all parties that apply with EU rights, and fulfill the terms of SI and the EU. Religion doesn't play any role at all. Talking about Turkey: The CHP is an associate party of the PES. How can you say that we don't accept parties from muslem nations? Your accusations don't make much sense.
Regarding other parties which would like to adhere: If they match the goals and policies of the SI in connection with an existing EU relation, they are always welcome. For the PES, the EU relation of a member party is a basic condition of full membership.
Last but not least th PES will announce new members at the its congress in Porto next December. -
