Socialist Rose
Date2005/10/04 00:54 by: SocDemThis may be a dumb question, but I just can't get a straight answer on it. Where does the rose in a fist emblem come from and what does it signify? Thanks.

Date2005/10/05 12:49 by: JAMThe Danish Social Democrats also give these suggestions for why the rose is a symbol of social democracy/socialism:
community (the flower’s petals)
socialism (its red color)
taking care of those who are less able to compete (the fragility)
the struggle (the thorns)
growth (growing potential)
plurality (the flower’s form)
respect for nature (a plant) and
cultural life (beauty) -

I think the rose should be made the official logo of ALL socialist/social-democratic and labour organizations. We should promote the "rose" as the political symbol of the democratic socialism and all parties should use the rose in their websites and electoral campaigns!
